everyone is a winner
How is it that every single person that plays online poker is a winner. I have never seen one post or one chat where someone admits to losing money. I guess its a good thing that so many people like to delude themselves into thinking that they are winning players when they only count the days they win and forget about the ones they lose.
At two points in time I was a losing player. When I first started playing online I was down about $500 for about 3 months. Then I hit a huge winning streak and went up about $1500 in 2 months. Then I hit a brick wall a proceeded to lose everything back in about another 4 months. It was a combination of running bad and playing scared. When I would lose $100 in a day I would freak out and try to grind it back only to lose again and become even more dishearten. I really wasn't ready to lose that much money at one time. All I would think about is the fact that I used to work an entire week to make $150 and I just lost that much is 2 hours.
Learning to deal with losing money is probably one of the money important factors in playing poker. Now I am much more comfortable with losing money. If I lose $200 in a day I can brush it off and not get too mad, I am not happy but I realize that it is part of the game. But if I lose $400 in a day we have a problem.
That is much of the reason why I am not playing 5/10 or higher right now, the bankroll is not the problem, its just that I'm not comfortable losing that much money is one day. I have faith in my abilities but every player has bad days. Im sure in the next month or two I'll be fine with losing that much money at one time but for now Im just gonna focus on playing my best poker and becoming better everytime I sit down.
