time to reflect
Well instead of sitting around and bitching about my loosing streak ive decided to think about what went wrong and learn something from the experience.
Basically what happened is I took a shot at a limit over my bankroll and didn't come out on top. I overplayed a lot of hands and tried to force too many hands instead of sitting back, that combined with some horrible luck led to a huge downswing.
Im not really mad at myself though, my goal in poker is not all about money. The safe play would have been to wait till my bankroll was very very healthy and then move up. But i want to progress my game and decided to take a shot. No top player ever got there by making the safe play everytime. I know im much better than the players at the levels above me and as long as i didn't get very unlucky the transition would have been fine. But unfortunately the worst thing that could happen did.
What really killed me was not ever hitting draws. That gets soo expensive after a while, you are calling down to the river every time and not getting anything back. It really takes a toll when you go 1 for 15 on flush and straight draws.
I know that I am a good player and that these things happen to players better than me all the time. I just need to focus on things that I can fix in my game and just forgot about what I cannot fix. Yes, $500 is a lot of money to me right now but Im only 21 and I plan to play poker the rest of my life, so if I can learn this very valuable lesson now, it will be well worth the price.
